Does the parent ask, or do you?
This is the question most likely to be got wrong by generalising, because the answer genuinely reverses between two states.
"NDIS providers cannot make requests for access directly to the school." QLD S8
"The family or carer makes a request to the leader in writing. Requests should not come from you or any provider." SA S12
"Any request for access to a student by an NDIS provider must come from the student's parent or carer or with that person's express consent. A formal request must be made in writing by completing the Parent/Carer Request Form…" TAS S6
Note: Tasmania's wording is looser than Queensland's flat prohibition — it allows "with that person's express consent" — but it is still paired with a mandatory form. Do not read it as either a "never" or a "yes".
"A written request by parents/carers is required in advance of any service provision commencing in school." NSW S9
"Providers can only make a direct request if they have the consent of the parent or carer." WA S10
